Winners of CSMCL 2019 Día Grant with African-American Focus

Congratulations to the winners of the Center for the Study of Multicultural Children's Literature 2019 Día Grant with an African American Focus.

Athens-Clarke County Library (part of Athens Regional Library System) in Athens, GA. "Dia Celebration! Omu and Her Storytime Stew Cooking Class: Community Building Through African American Cooking and Literature.” The Día event will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2019 from 11:00 a.m.– 12:30 p.m.

Boyertown Community Library in Boyertown, PA. "Families Read Together with Special Guest Author Pamela Tuck.” The event will be held on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 from 6:30 p.m.– 7:30 p.m.

Maple School Library in Easthampton, MA. The Día event theme is: "Caribbean Poetry: Un Viaje de los Sentidos.” The two-day Día event will be held on April 23 and 24, 2019 from 11:00 a.m.– 12:30 p.m.

The three winning libraries each will be awarded $500 in selected multicultural children’s books.

This is the eighth year the Center for the Study of Multicultural Children's Literature (CSMCL) has awarded the Día grant and has been in partnership with the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) and Pat Mora. ALSC is a division of the American Library Association. Pat Mora, author and literacy advocate, is the founder of El Día de los Niños/El Día de los Libros (Children’s Day/Book Day); often known as Día.
