Estela & Raúl Mora Award and Honorees

Congratulations to this year's 2012 Estela & Raúl Mora Award winner, the Lynden (Wash.) Public Library of the Whatcom County Library System! The Lynden Public Library was chosen from among all of the entries in this year's competition for the library with most exemplary celebration of Dia.

This year was the first year that the REFORMA Mora Award Committee gave out honor awards for the Estela & Raúl Mora Honor Awards. This year's winners react on Pat Mora's Bookjoy site.  Congratulations again to all the libraries that applied for the 2012 award.

The Estela and Raúl Mora Award was established by author and poet Pat Mora, and her siblings, in honor of their parents; the award promotes El día de los niños, El día de los libros/ Children’s Day, Book Day, also known as Día. Culminating celebrations of this year-long initiative that links all children to books, languages, and cultures are traditionally held on or near April 30. The Mora award is presented annually, in partnership with REFORMA, to the most exemplary celebration of Dia.
