Congratulations to the winners of the Center for the Study of Multicultural Children's Literature (CSMCL) 2016 Día Grant with an African American Focus. The two winning libraries each will be awarded $500 in selected multicultural children’s books
Woodward Elementary School in Delaware, Ohio. The Día event theme is: "African American History through Books and Music." The event will be held the week of April 25 through April 29, 2016.
Beardstown Houston Memorial Public Library in Beardstown, Illinois. The Día event theme is: "One Community, Many Stories.” The event will be held on April 12, 2016.
This is the fifth year the Center for the Study of Multicultural Children's Literature (CSMCL) has awarded the grant and has been in partnership with the Association for Library Services to Children (ALSC) and Pat Mora. ALSC is a division of the American Library Association. Pat Mora, author and literacy advocate, is the founder of Children’s Day, Book Day/ El día de los niños, El día de los libros; often known as Día.
